5 Star Catering at 150 Jewell Street, Santa Cruz, California.

We hired them for our wedding in 2007.
The food, was great so I won't rate this as company as "poor". Many guests mentioned how good it was. The buffet was lovely and many people went back for more. All went well... until a guest discovered big metal screw IN her dinner salad. Luckily, she was discrete (and easygoing!).
The (day of) service was bad. They were late with the meal, causing everything that followed (like dancing) to be cut short. It was a huge disappointment.
We paid the extra fee for their bartender to serve drinks. Personally I was against a cash bar, so I was disgusted when I noticed that he'd had a tip jar sitting on the bar.
Lastly, we ordered a cake elsewhere, but opted for the extra "per person" cake cutting fee from 5 Star. The cake (which was more than big enough) disappeared before many guests got a piece (including my parents). When asked what happened, a 5Star staff member bent down produced cake "leftovers" from her own bag. It looked like she had packed it up to take it home with her!
